HELP HELP HELP!! I'VE WRITTEN MYSELF INTO A CORNER!!!! This is a part of my fan fic (yet to be named, but I'm calling 7's scar for now)
um.....if you could read this and tell me what you think, I'D MUCH appreciate it.
This is one POSSIBLE outcome...I'll post the other possible outcome when I finish writing it ^^;
~Imp~
“RUN!” 7 yelled to 5, and took off herself.
7 ran off down the street, towards the edge of the town and to the bridge, and 5 ran back for the cover of the car.
The beast, angered, pounced, narrowly missing 5. He stumbled back under the car and to safety. However, this didn't deter the beast. If anything, it made it more angry. It backed off a good two yards and rammed the car with all its might, this time rocking it on it's shocks. It swiped again and again under the vehicle. 2 and 5 backed away, but a claw clipped 5's ankle and held on. The beast dragged him out and growled at him. 5 screamed, and tried to squirm out of the beast's grip.
A rock hit the beast in the side of the head or the second time that day.
“Hey!” 7 shouted. 'because this TOTALLY worked the first time,' the sarcastic part of herself thought, but she ignored it and picked up another rock to throw at it. “Come finish what you started with me!”
Surprisingly, the beast put 5 down, and did just that. 5 got up, and he and 2 ran for cover on the other side of the street. The cat beast dove for 7, and she took off, running harder than she ever thought possible, towards the bridge over the ravine. Even so, the beast was quicker. It jumped over 7, landing in front of her.
She stumbled, trying to stop, and fell backwards at its feet. She tried scooting backwards away from it, thrusting her lance at it, but it put a huge claw on her chest and arm, stopping her. It bent down and picked her up with its mouth, and shook her from side to side, sending the bird's skull flying off her head. Then it bit down on her body, hard. 7 couldn't suppress her scream on agony as she felt her metal skeleton crushing in the cat beast's powerful jaws.
“7, no!” 5 screamed in horror, looking back.
“Oh my goodness,” 2's eyes went wide as the beast threw her to the ground.
Enjoying this, the beast picked 7 up again, threw her up in the air, and caught her again in its mouth. 2 and 5 couldn't hold in their sounds of alarm as 7 wasn't even struggling to get away. In triumph, the cat beast threw her limp body to one side. She hit a brick wall hard, and slid slowly to the ground, unmoving.
2 and 5 took off, running up the street, away from the beast. 5 had dropped his crossbow, but had no time to retrieve it. The sound of it falling caught the attention of the beast. It turned and saw the two rag dolls running away from it, and decided to give chase. It came after them like a bullet, and all they could do was dive for cover in a pile of rubble, beneath an old, broken death-machine. It reached it, and started digging.
2 and 5 crawled away from the beasts grabbing claws, over metal and shards of glass, and under rocks and old bits of dry wall, as far into the pile as they could. However, a huge wall of wood crashed down in front of them, shaken down by the beast's rummaging, creating a dead end, and cutting off their escape. There was no where to go but back, and back wasn't an option.
“Oh no,” 5 said, starting to panic. “Oh, no, oh, no, oh, no, oh, no,” He started ringing his hands.
“Ssh!” 2 put his fingers to his lips, and pointed up. There was a rusted rebar extending to a lighted area. They climbed it into the open air on top of the junk pile and looked down on the beast. It was still digging, trying to get at them, not noticing they were on top of the pile. The cat beast moved something, and the pile shifted, nearly knocking them off-balance. They knew that if the cat moved much else, the whole pile could collapse.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a pile of feathers landed next to the cat beast. They all stared at it. 5 was the first to see they were attached to a string. He gasped and pointed.
“Look,” he whispered, pointing at it just as the string jerked the feathers back a foot or so, causing the beast to jump. It was entranced by bundle, just as any cat would be.
The string jerked again, and the feather bundle jumped back about another foot or so. The cat beast crouched down, watching it intensely. The feathers were being dragged back in the direction of the bridge; the direction in which they'd left 7.
The cat beast pounced, but the feathers jerked away. Confused, it prepared to strike again, jumped, and the feathers were tugged back again. Suddenly, it was as if someone were reeling in the feathers, as they steadily moved back down the street. The cat beast bounded after them, enjoying this new game, and completely forgetting about 2 and 5.
They exchanged bewildered looks. 5 raised his eyebrows at 2, glancing in the direction the feathers were retreating in. 2 smiled and held out his hand as if saying 'after you'. They jumped down and followed the beast, taking care to stay in the cover of the shadows.
The bundle of feathers was back to jerky motions, going back and forth across the street, resting every now and again, but always pulling away when the beast tried to pounce on them. Soon, the rows of buildings ran out, and 2 and 7 were forced to follow further behind as not to be noticed. The feathers took an unexpected turn away from the bridge and further up the ravine. Uneasy the two rag dolls followed the playful monster and mysterious plumage.
2 was the first to see the feather's controller. Further ahead, perched at the edge of the gorge was a small, white figure. It was standing on a wooden plank that extended a foot or so over the ledge of the gully.
“7?” he whispered, surprised and elated.
5 looked where 2 was looking, saw her, and gasped. It was indeed 7, gingerly maneuvering the rope with the feathers. She made eye-contact with them and forced a grin that was more of a grimace. In all honestly, she had to suppress a cry of pain with every move she made. The cat beast had really done a number on her insides.
Suddenly, she dropped the rope, allowing the beast to pounce on the feathers. From the ground beside her, she picked up 5's crossbow, which she had retrieved from where he'd dropped it. She took careful aim, and shot it at the beast's head. The arrow bounced off, but she'd gotten it's attention. She dropped the crossbow to the ground, and picked up her lance. She raised it above her head and waved, practically beckoning the beast.
“H-had enough, yet?” Her voice shook from the pain, but she managed a taunting tone, and grinned wide at it. She backed out onto the plank of wood, hovering dangerously over thin air.
The beast growled and charged at her, wasting no time. It wasn't going to let her get away this time.
It jumped at her, and 7 dove off the plank of wood, back towards solid ground, digging her lance hard into the cliff wall. The cat beast saw her plan mid-jump, and panicked. It tried to change directions mid-air, but was unsuccessful. It landed on the board, which teetered and overbalanced under the beast's weight, plummeting from beneath it. The beast flailed, trying to grip something to avoid the fall. One of its claws clipped 7 back, and she heard a gut-wrenching ripping sound.
The cat was unsuccessful in gripping anything else, however. It fell, plunging 50 feet to the bottom of the ravine.
“7?” 5 called, desperately. He and rushed to the edge to see what had become of their comrade.
She looked up at them. “Help, please,” She stretched our her arm, and they pulled her up, all of them falling in a heap once she was back on solid ground. 7 was the first up, and she ran back to the edge to see what had become of the beast. It was getting to its feet, slowly, and shaking itself. It looked up at them and growled, angry but defeated. 7, breathing hard, leaned on her lance and gave the beast a salute of sorts.
5, laughing, picked himself up. “I was so scared, 7, don't do tha--” he cut himself off when he saw her. He felt the pit drop out of his stomach.
“Yes, yes, me too...” 2 started, but also trailed off at the sight of 7.
The fabric on her back was almost completely torn away, exposing her crushed metal skeleton. She was still breathing hard, and was swaying slightly.
“7, are you...” he started to ask, but didn't get to finish. 7 fell suddenly collapsed sideways, unable to bear the pain any longer.
“7!”
They simultaneously rushed to her, panicked. She was barely conscious. 2 examined her; she was in bad shape. Some of her ribs had actually snapped under the pressure of the cat beast's jaws. They were all still attached, but only just. 2 lightly touched one, and it snapped off in his hand, causing 7 to writhe and screech in pain.
and, that's all I got for now...^^; thankies
